WHAT I DO

I am a seasoned editor and writer with more than twenty years of experience in national and international media.

Over the course of my career, my work has taken me from the skyscrapers of central London to dusty archives and beachside Roman ruins in Italy, chocolate boutiques in Paris and salt marshes in the farthest-flung corners of the UK.

I have a particular interest in history and heritage, art and culture and conservation, especially the local history, art and architecture of the different villages and towns that now make up London;  the private lives of notable figures in 17th-, 18th- and early 19th-century Britain and Europe; and the intersection between history and art in specific areas of Italy (Sardinia, Naples, the environs of Florence).

I have also covered the luxury market, housing and the nexus between politics, food, farming and the environment across today’s UK and Europe.

My pieces have appeared in the print and digital editions of Britain’s most established publications, such as Country Life, Countrylife.co.uk, Woman & Home, Apollo magazine, The Field and Decanter. I have also been published in a number of other international titles, including Forbes.com, the Washington Post and Wildlife Conservation.

As well as writing, I have significant experience in editing, from the idea stage through to commissioning, developmental, line and copy editing, plus scheduling and production. I’m currently Acting Deputy Features Editor at Country Life and, in the past, I have been Acting News and Features Editor at The Field magazine and editor of Country Life International, a Country Life special covering destinations across Europe and beyond.

Previously, I was content director at Countrylife.co.uk and Horseandhound.co.uk; editor-at-large at Italy Magazine, covering Italian lifestyle, culture, food and travel; and associate editor (online) at Conde Nast Traveller and Vogue.co.uk, where I started my career.
