What I do

Thanks for visiting my site. I am a seasoned writer with more than seventeen years’ experience in national and international media.

I have a particular interest in urban politics, housing and economics but also cover culture, lifestyle, travel, equestrianism, food and farming. Over the course of my career, my work has taken me from the skyscrapers and busy press conferences of central London to beachside Roman ruins in Italy, chocolate boutiques in Paris and salt marshes in the farthest-flung corners of the UK.

My pieces have appeared on some of Britain’s most established publications, including Country Life, Countrylife.co.uk, Woman & Home, Ideal Home, Decanter and Horse & Hound.

I contribute regularly to Forbes.com and have been published in a number of other international titles such as the Washington Post and Wildlife Conservation.

In the past, I have been editor of Country Life International, a thrice-a-year international property and travel magazine sold as a supplement to Country Life; editor at large of Italy Magazine, an online magazine covering Italian lifestyle, culture, food and travel; content director for Countrylife.co.uk and Horseandhound.co.uk; editor of the now-defunct Hotelworld.com, a travel website by Associated Newspapers; and associate editor and writer for the Conde Nast Traveller online and Vogue online. I went freelance in April 2005 and really relish the variety of styles and range of topics I can cover as an independent writer.

If you are interested in global cities and real estate, follow me on Twitter and LinkedIn. If you’d like to get in touch, I can be reached by email, CarlaPassino [at] gmail.com.
